Congregation Composition

The morning congregation is of very mixed age and background ranging from a baby, young children (who usually go out for the latter part of the service unless it is a Family Service),  teenagers (who stay in) and a range of adults, some of whom are in their 80s. The size of the congregation varies between about 20 and 35 including children. There are very few with a "Methodist" background.

Sunday Morning Format

This is very much up to the Preacher or Worship Leader . The notices and welcome are given at the beginning and a short vesper is sung at the end - the period in between the two are for you and the Lord to use as seems fit.

Hymns and Praise Books

We now have a music group largely comprised of teenagers (which is an exciting development), however, they are unlikely to be motivated by choices of hymns derived solely for Hymns & Psalms.

The Church Steward/Organist is happy to assist in the choosing of the music, particularly if there are concerns about whether or not items are known by the Congregation. Another option is to provide a theme and we will pick a selection which should fit. The church has the following books available for use:

Songs of Fellowship 1
Mission Praise 1
Methodist Hymns & Psalms

In addition to the above, we are able to project or copy onto paper, the contents of
Songs of Fellowship 2 & 3 and other newer songs under the CCL copyright license.
If you have something else in mind, let us know in advance and we will try and find it for you on the Internet.

The church uses a keyboard which is very flexible. It can mimic most instruments and can also create rhythms (these can work well with many of the older favourites as well as the new songs). The keyboard can also play midi files either from disk or by linking it to a computer. The latter is often used with a link to a LCD projector for displaying the words.

Regrettably, the organist only plays by ear so it may not be possible to use totally unknown songs unless a suitable midi file can be found beforehand. For this reason a couple of days notice of what is wanted is appreciated.

Bibles

Copies of the Good News Bible are provided to the congregation. The page numbers in the larger Bible in the pulpit are the same as those in the smaller versions.

A-V Resources

The following are readily available to assist:-

LCD Projector
Computer
Video Player
DVD Player
Blackboard or Whiteboard
Overhead Projector
Cassette and/or CD Player

Please give a couple of days notice so that the necessary kit can be assembled.
